About

There's a robot for that. Sometimes.

Whirrwork is the place you go when you think a robot might be able to do a job for you. We tell you what it costs, who does it near you, and whether you actually need one.

Why we exist

Robots are quietly doing a lot of real work: inspecting bridges, spraying fields, scrubbing airport floors, painting the night sky with drones, counting pallets at 3am. But buying that work is stuck in 1997. Prices are "contact us." Suppliers are scattered across a thousand websites in forty languages. Buyers don't know what to ask, so they ask the wrong thing and get an expensive answer.

We think that's fixable. And we think the fix is a directory that's honest.

What we believe

  1. Most people don't need a robot. Some really do. We'll tell you which one you are. A directory that says "you don't need us" is one you can trust when it says "you do."
  2. Prices should be public. Every number on Whirrwork has a receipt: a source link and a date. If we can't source it, we show an empty table rather than a made-up one.
  3. Jobs, not gadgets. Nobody wants a "quadruped autonomous inspection platform." They want to know if the roof leaks. We organise everything around the job.
  4. Free for buyers. Forever. No buyer fees, no pay-to-rank. Suppliers are listed for free. If we ever charge for something, it'll be optional supplier tools, and we'll tell you.
  5. Humans and agents are both welcome. More and more requests will come from software acting for a person. We built them a front door too.

How the directory works

We research jobs-to-be-done and the companies that do them from public sources: company websites, published rate cards, public tenders, extension services, regulators. Each listing shows where its information came from and when we last checked it. Providers can claim and correct their listing.

When you request quotes, we store your request, auto-match it to providers by job and country, and a human reviews it before forwarding. We don't send anything automatically, and we don't sell your data.

What we do with the numbers

Every search and request (anonymized: no IP addresses, no tracking cookies) helps us map what people need robots for, where, and at what price. That's how the price index gets better, and how suppliers learn where demand is going. Unmet demand counts too. "Nobody does this in Chile yet" is a useful fact.

Ground rules

  • Listings are not endorsements. Do your own checks: insurance, permits, references.
  • Price ranges are published benchmarks, not quotes.
  • Found an error? Tell us. We fix things fast.
